MINISTER REVIEWS WEEK’S REPORTS

WELLINGTON, August 22,
“Altogether the position shows a remarkable buoyancy in industry and various manufacturing units report that the future cannot be viewed in ;other than an optimistic manner,” said the Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) in a statement reviewing industrial expansion during the week. The Minister said that he had received reports from all over the Dominion telling of exceptional activity in woollen mills, and other gratifying reports had been received on electrical manufactures, footwear, and •the clothing and shirtmaking trade.
An indication that more land was being brought into cultivation was found in an Auckland district report of increased sales for implements for breaking in virgin soil.
