NATIONAL REGISTER IN AUSTRALIA
TERMS FOR WITHDRAWAL OF UNION OPPOSITION SYDNEY, July 18. The Melbourne correspondent of the “Sydney Morning Herald” states that if the Federal Ministry is prepared to promise legislative assurance against industrial and military conscription, it is regarded as certain that the opposition of the trade unions to the national register will be withdrawn. Such a promise will be sought when the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) and the Minister for Defence (Mr G. A. Street) meet the Federal Labour Advisory Committee on Friday. -
