MRS CLARENCE EATON r ENTERTAINED Members of the Durham Street Methodist Ladies’ Guild met at an afternoon social to bid farewell to Mrs Clarence Eaton, before her'departure for her new home in Palmerston North. Mrs Eaton received a posy of flowers from Mrs Bell, who hais been a guild member for almost 30 years. The president (Mrs on behalf of members, presented Mrs Eaton with a* travelling companion as a token of their esteem and wished her every success in her new sphere. During the afternoon songs were sung by Mrs Ernest Firth, and a play reading was given by Mesdames Sincock and Purchase, Misses .Rudkin and Whetter. PRE-WEDDING PARTY MISS JOYCE BURT HONOURED Miss Joyce Burt, who will be an Easter bride, received • many dainty handkerchiefs at a party given in her honour yesterday afternoon by Mrs J. N. Fraser at her mother’s flat at Knowlescourt. Mrs W. Machin assisted her , daughter in receiving the gUGStS. Those present were Mesdames J. R. Burt, W. Machin, T. Papprill, H. J. Butler, Champion, G. Simpson, Hickmott, Eric Gray, R. Thompson, Ernest Edridge, P. Jamieson, H. D. Clarkson, Misses Joyce Burt, Marguerite Baxter, and Patricia, Simpson. EUCHRE PARTY To assist the St. Faith’s Cadet Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, a euchre party was held at the home of Mr and Mrs C. F. Scott, North Beach. .The successful players were Mrs S. Henderson and Mr G. Leslie. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mesdames O. Lang and G. Leslie. Those present included Mr and Mrs G. Mapstpne, Mr and Mrs G. Leslie, Mr and Mrs C. F. Scott, Mr and Mrs A. Taylor, Mr and Mrs T. Welsh, Mesdames O, Lang, A. Porter, C. A. Lowry, S. Henderson, Adams, A. Burtt, Messrs D, Gibb, Russell Adams, George MapStone, and Francis Scott.
