TRADE AGREEMENT WITH INDIA
GAIN FOR BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY
(Received March 21. 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 21. The trade agreement between Britain and India has been concluded. It is to operate for three years. . It benefits the Lancashire cotton industry, as India lowers the duties on British cotton goods in the first year from 20 to 15 per cent. Duties in subsequent years will depend on the volume of exports. Ottawa preferences are generally continued.
