PIGEON FLYING
EAST CHRISTCHURCH CLUB Tiie East Christchurch Racing Pigeon Club recently flew a young bird race from Parnassus. Eighty birds, among 12 owners, competed. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 9 a.m. in fine weather, and In a favourable wind which enabled them to make fast times. Only seconds divided the prize-winners. The winner was J. H. Beale’s bird No. 689, which flew the distance of 75 miles 1243 yards in Ihr SOmin 18sec. The following was the result: — J. H. Beale’s No. 689, 1475 yards a minute. 1; J. Burke’s No. 591, 1472 yds, 2; A. Dunn's No. 655, 1464 yds, 3; J. Rolton’s No. 109, 1457 yds, 4; A. Wright’s No. 140, 1453 yds, 5; G. Robertson’s No. 207, 1452 yds, 6; W. Walls’s No. 71, 1443 yds, 7; R. Sullivan's No. 710, 1442 yds, 8; H. May’s No. 164, 1417 yds, 9; J. Stewart's No. 551,1416 yds, 10; R. Moore’s No. 733, 1415 yds, 11; W. Pollard’s No. 63. 1414 yds, 12.
