NEW ZEALAND. OPEN TOURNEYS TITIRANGI CHOSEN FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS CPBXSB ASSOCIATION TJCMEGB Al£.) AUCKLAND, March 15. The Titirangi golf course has been chosen as the course for the first of the three big open golf championships to be • staged in New Zealand, commencing in October. The New Zealand Golf Council leftthe selection to the local advisory committee, and the Titirangi Club 'has agreed to conduct the championship on October 23 and 24. The New Zealand 1940 championship meeting will be held on the Middlemore course. CHRISTCHURCH LADIES’ CLUB A bogey match was played at Shirley yesterday. Mrs A. E. Barker won in the silver medal division and Miss N. Buchanan in the bronze medal division. The following were the best scores:— • Silver Medal Division—Mrs A. E.' Barker, 1 down: Mrs M. H. Godby, 2 down; Mrs T. Armstrong, 3 down: .Miss H. Buchanan, 4 down; Miss V. Fleming, 4 down; Miss Beadel, 4 down; Mrs G. van Asch, 4 down; Miss N. Frater, 4 down. Bronze Medal Division—Miss N. Buchanan, 4 down; Mrs K. Gresson, 5 down; Mrs S. P. Godfrey. 5 down; Miss C. Mitchell, 6 down; Miss J. B. Wilkin, 6 down; Mrs G. Beadel, 6 down; Mrs W. E. Simes, 7 down. KAIAPOI LADIES’ CLUB The Kaiapoi Ladies’ Golf Club officially opened its winter season on Tuesday afternoon - when there was a very large attendance of members and visitors. The club captain, Mrs E. J. Corcoran, welcomed the visitors and wished the members a successful season. A Canadian foursome match resulted in a tie between Mrs N. W. Robertson and Miss N. Mclntosh and Miss M. Rinaldi and Miss M. Stewart. On a count-back Mrs Robertson and Miss Mclntosh were the winners. The best scores were: —Mrs N. W. Robertson and Miss N. Mclntosh, 98. 27—71: Miss M. Rinaldi and Miss M. Stewart. 100, 29—71: Mrs A. J. Bennetts and Mrs L. Hook, 102, 30—72; Mrs G. Aitken and Miss M. Wright, 96, 23—73; Mrs A. W. Lelthead and Miss J. Patterson, 102, 29—<3 Mrs R. H. Tait and Mrs Wolff, 100, 25—75.
