STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES blood transfusions save THIRTY LIVES A successful year Is reported in the annual statement ol the St. John Ambulance Association. Donors, who have been used for blood transfusions, numbered 116. “During this year,” the secretary states, “this branch has had the satisfaction of knowing that at least 30 lives have definitely been saved through its efforts. The committee thanks all the brigade members who have joined up with the service or assisted in other ways.” •A comparative statement of the cases transported by the association shows that in 1898 80 calls were received, in 1908 345. and in 1918 1471. In 1928 1058 calls were received, and the ambulances travelled (? 7153 miles. Last year 49,645 miles were travelled in answer to 4747 calls. The credit balance of the Ashburton Sub-Centre is reported to have risen from £l9O 10s 3d to £240 10s.
