SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ANNOUNCED
CITY STUDENT’S SUCCESS IN' ACCOUNTANCY (par. S 3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 15. The third biennial award of a travelling scholarship was made in Wellington to-day by the New Zealand Institute of Accountants. The winner was Mr N. H. Chapman, 8.C0m., Christchurch, who is 24 years of age. He will probably leave the Dominion in about three months. The institute, in accordance with practice, will endeavour to secure for him a position with a London firm. The scholarship Is of the value of £ 170 and is tenable for two years. After the committees in the four main centres had dealt with applications for the scholarship, three final-, ists, each, it is stated, with high qualifications, were interviewed in Wellington to-day. They were Mr Chapman, Mr A. P. Fogerty, B.Com. (Auckland), and Mr J. S. Campbell, M.Com. (Wellington). It is obligatory upon the holder of the scholarship to return to New Zealand and spend at least three years here engaging in lecturing work if possible. The present holder, Mr R. A. Douglas (Auckland), was to have returned to. New Zealand at the end of last year, but has obtained an extension of time to allow him to sit the British examination.
