FRENCH BUDGET PASSED
DELAYED DEPARTURE OF M. DALADIER
(Received January 2, 9.30 p.m.)
PARIS, January 1
The Prime Minister (M. Daladier) was forced to postpone his departure for Tunis, because of the delay by Parliament in passing the Budget.
The Senate passed the Budget by 281 votes to 16, after which it was referred to the Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, in which acute differences arose between Right Wing and Left Wing members. Radicals accused Socialists and Communists of deliberately provoking difficulties in order to prevent M. Daladier’s departure. The Chamber passed the Budget by 372 votes to 229, after which M. Daladier left for Toulon.
