LONDON, December 31
The Paris correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian” says that the Republican Federation, a Parliamentary group of 50 deputies whose support is essential to the Daladier Government, passed a resolution declaring that it will withdraw its support if concessions are made to Italy beyond those contained in the 1935 Laval-Mussolini agreement which Italy has' just repudiated.
It is believed the Government has received a set-back through the Chamber of Deputies debate on December 19. The Foreign Minister (M. Georges Bonnet) did not disclose that he had received the Italian denunciation of the Laval Pact on December 17. His critics declared that his not mentioning the denunciation implied to Italy that bargaining was possible. M. Bonnet explained that he was not aware of the Italian Note on December 19, and not in any way have mentioned it before then. It was considered by the Cabinet, which later replied firmly to Italy.
