£3O RAISED

SANATORIUM CINEMA PLANT

Last night the Sanatornum Cinema Plant Appeal reached £3O. This is another tangible proof of the great generosity of readers of “The Press” in all parts of Canterbury. The appeal was made on Monday morning by the lady editor of “The Press.” and each day since then donations have reached her by post or have been personally delivered at “The Press” Office. The plant will probably cost about £l3O, of which sum the patients of the Sanatorium have themselves raised £7O. At the suggestion of Dr. I. C. Macintyre, medical superintendent of the Sanatorium, the Sanatorium Service Society, of which Mr P. H. Harris is president and Mr W. J. Walker honorary secretary, undertook to raise some money early next year for the fund. In the meantime, the lady editor of “The Press,” to encourage the patients in their plucky effort to help themselves, undertook to receive and immediately acknowledge any donations that kind readers of “The Press” might feel disposed to give. In four days she has received £3O, for which she is deeply grateful, more especially as she realises that most persons are. this week, extremely busy and have many demands made upon them. With many thanks, she acknowledges the following donations received yesterday:—W.A.C., 2s; A.M., ss; Anonymous Friend. £1; Mrs J. P. F„ 2s 6d; W.M., £1; M.0.. 2s 6d; Sympathiser, ss. Mr Walker received 2s 6d from “A Friend.”
