NEW HOTEL FOR KAIAPOI
FIRE DAMAGE TO BE REPLACED
APPROVAL OF PLANS BY COUNCIL
Plans and specifications for a new hotel to be built on the Main North road, Kaiapoi, to replace the old Kaikanui Hotel, destroyed by fire, were approved at the fortnighlty meeting' of the Kaiapoi Borough Council. To assist the Kaiapoi Health Campaign Committee, it was decided to' purchase health stamps to the value of £2.
Tenders were received, for carrying out the borough sanitary contract and the tender of Mr S. E. Wright was accepted. . „ The Dr. T. A. Will Memorial Committee, Rangiora, wrote Asking if the council would grant financial support towards the proposed memorial fund. The letter was received. , The financial statement showed receipts, £1395 Is 3d; debit bank balance, £2616 13s sd; accounts passed for payment, £1453 14s 9d. There were present at the meeting the Mayor (the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery), Crs. A. E. Brown, A. S. Palmer, R. C. Stewart, A. Gordon, W. Hart, J. P. Farrell, H. Rinaldi, and A. Linklater. It was decided that the next meeting of the council be held on January 17. '
