RATIONING EXCHANGE
•to THE EDITOB Or THE PHESS Sir, — I was interested to note "Kaye Hoe's" comment on my letter charging him with violently contradicting himself. Apparently he has now dropped his recent assertion that the sheepfarmers are enjoying a period of plenty and has reverted to his former argument that they approach the Minister on a guaranteed price again, flatly contradicting his assertion in his previous letter that such a move would be most unwelcome.
However, ignoring his contradictions, the history of the dairy guaranteed price clearly shows that it would not be done by issuing notes against whatever credit the State may have, but would be at the expense of other sections of the community. Therefore, the sheepfarmer guarantees the dairy farmer. The latter returns the compliment by guaranteeing the former. Both of them pay the worker the regulation wages. The worker, through customs, sales tax, and wage tax, guarantees them both, and his own wages as well. It is all a truly marvellous feat of juggling.—Yours, etc., T.V.W. December 19, 1938.
