WANDERING SHEEP NUISANCE
COMPLAINT BY SCARBOROUGH RESIDENT
The nuisance created by wandering ] sheep was discussed at the meeting last evening of the Sumner Borough Council. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Town Clerk with power to act. A letter from a Scarborough resident complaining of the damage to vegetables and shrubs, was received. The damage, the letter said, was not exaggerated in the slightest degree. The trouble did not emanate from the well-run sheep station on Scarborough. The Mayor (Mr J. E. Tait) said that there was also trouble at Redcliffs, and the difficulty seemed to arise from the fact that these particular sheep were grazed in various paddocks all over the borough. The pound-keeper had power to deal with the sheep.
