BANDS' VISITING DAY
Every year on the Sunday before Christmas the bands of Christchurch give their services to entertain inmates of institutions in and around the city, and yesterday seven bands performed as follows: —Coronation " Hospital, Derry's Military Band; Paparua Prison. Woolston Band; Nazareth House, Christchurch Municipal Band; Mount Magdala and St. Joseph's Orphanage, New Brighton Band and Scottish Societv of New Zealand Pipe Band; Public Hospital, Band of the Ist Canter-
bury Regiment: St. Saviour's Orpixanage, City of Christchurch Highland Pipe Band. The Presbyterian and Methodist Orphanages had broken tap. The Rotary Club is thanked for providing transport.
In this issue the Railway Department advertises particulars of train alterations from December 26 to 31 for Christmas and Neve Year holidays. At the prize-giving of the St. Albans District School. Wynton Egglestoc, of Form I, received an excellence certiAcate.
