CURRENT NOTES

Lady Myers (Wellington) arrived in Christchurch from the north yesterday and, with Sir Michael Myers, left later for Dunedin. Mrs George Reid (Madras), who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. H. Price, Wellington, left yesterday for Sydney, where she will join the Otranto for India. Miss Millton (Orari) is the guest of Mrs George Helmore, Millbrook, Fendalton. Miss Suzanne Izard (Wanganui), who has been visiting Mrs Nowell Izard, Fendalton, has returned home. Mrs A. Morten presided at the meeting of the Sumner-Redcliffs branch of the Plunket Society. Nurse Harman reported that 41 adults and 33 babies had visited the Redcliffs rooms, and visits to the Sumner rooms had included 43 adults and 42 babies.

Miss Margaret Scott, who has been visiting Mount Cook, has returned to her home at Timaru. Mrs C. S. Bruce has left Timaru to make her home in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs A. Provan (Greymouth) are visiting Timaru.

Mrs T. Compton and Miss Compton (Wellington) are the guests of Mrs W. A. Fleming, Selwyn street, Timaru.

Mrs W. D. Campbell (Wai-iti road, Timaru) has returned from a visit to Peel Forest.

Mrs James Grant (Gray’s Hills), who was the guest of Mrs A. Grant (“Aigantighe,” Timaru), returned home yesterday. Miss L. Fussell (Timaru) is spending a few days with Mrs F. Haynes, Peel Forest.

Mrs Allport (Elizabeth street, Timaru) and her guest, Mrs James Allport (Blenheim), left yesterday for a visit to Dunedin.

Mrs Harper, matron of Stratheona Home-training Hostel (Pleasant Point), is visiting Palmerston as the guest of Mrs J. McAlister.

Mrs F. H. Henderson (Colombo street), who has been spending a short holiday at Hapuku, Kaikoura, will return to Christchurch during the week-end.

Mr and Mrs Cuthbert Pearce and family (Fairton), who have been staying at ‘’llfracombe,” Akaroa, will return home to-day. The Christchurch Methodist Ladies’ Guild Fellowship held its annual meeting in the Durham street Methodist Schoolroom. Mrs Lawrence Rudkin presided and welcomed visitors and members from 26 guilds. The report and greetings from the Auckland Fellowship .-ere read by the secretary (Mrs F. L. Hallam) and the roll call was taken by Mrs Caygill. Items given by Mrs Kerr, Mrs Stewart, and Mrs Olds were much appreciated, and an interesting address was given by the Rev. Clarence Eaton.

An enjoyable social, organised by members of St, David’s Presbyterian Church, was held in the Masonic Refectory, there being a good attendance. Items were given by Mesdames L. Farr and H. The annual ball of the benedicts of the South Malvern district was held in the Glentunnel Hall, which had been gaily decorated for the occasion.
