Mr Edward Cahill, city utilities manager of San Francisco, told the Australian Associated Press that there was a distinct possibility that Imperial Airways would establish a service between Gan Francisco and Australia. Pan American Airways had leased the airport facilities on Treasure Island, the artificial island in San Francisco harbour, Mr Cahill explained. Pan American Airways would use only one hangar, leaving the qther available to Imperial Airways. He declined to give • further details and added that the negotiations were not yet completed.
