There was no outstanding feature on the Sydney Stock Exchange yesterday beyond a lively demand for Oil Search shares, which moved up from 8s 3d to 8s 9d. TaranakTs also advanced to If -Investors are not pressing to sell most bargaining within narrow limits. This has resulted in all-round steadiness.

Short-dated loans were in demand in Melbourne. Leading industrials and barriers continued to improve on better news from overseas. Interest was maintained in bank stocks and there was more activity in oil prospecting stocks with Taranakis prominent.
