WRESTLING

BIG BOUT NEXT WEDNESDAY Dick Raines, the wrestling cowboy f®m Texas, made such a favourable Impression upon the spectators and officials of the local association, in his bout with Vincent Lopez, that he has been booked here for another bout next Wednesday night, when his opponent will be Dean Detton, whom mat enthusiasts in this city have been anxious to see matched against an opponent of his own calibre. As a followup to the thrilling Lopez-Raines bout a more attractive fixture could scarcely have been secured and Wednesday night will be awaited with keen anticipation. In his last bout here Detton showed that the fine qualities that had been claimed for him were fully justified. He demonstrated from first to last that he is now a master wrestler and that only an opponent of exceptional strength and skill could to stand up against him. He will be meeting such an antagonist in Raines, whoso performance against Detton s predecessor in the world’s championship position earned the highest praise. It Is apparent in everything that he does that Raines is looking for opportunities to bring his wide knowledge of the orthodox side of the sport into play, and he is equipped with some highly effective holds. In spite of his size he Is a very fast mover and no doubts can be entertained in regard to his ability to take punishment. Detton has been unable to secure a fall against him so far and It Is apparent that he will not find It easy at any time. i
