Howden, Park lane, has returned to Ealing. . . . Miss Wright, Wai-iti road, is visiting Mrs J. C. Templer, Geraldine. Complete success attended the annual ball of th- Timaru Police Force, which was held in the Caroline Bay Hall. The grand march was led by Inspector and Mrs Shanahan to music supplied by Pipers Munro and Morrison. The committee responsible for the arrangements included Messrs «... Grayburn, R. Pawsey, S. J. BRIDGE AND MAHJONG PARTY CANTERBURY SWIMMING CENTRE A most enjoyable bridge and Mahjong party was held in Ballantynes tea-rooms yesterday afternoon in aid of the Canterbury Centre ,of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming AssociaPrizes given by Mrs J. Mackenzie, were won by Mrs W. K. and Mrs E. A. Hopkins (bridge), Mrs G. A. Reed and Mrs J. Mortlock (mah-)ong). Those present included Mesdames W. Brown. K. le Cren. C. E. Edwards, J. Shaw, S. C. Novell, F. R. Amodeo, L. W. Gee, J. H. Mortlock, G. A. Reed, C. L. Hardie. J. Bailey, R. Buxton. H. H Smith, H. Fyfe, F. B. Wright, J- East M. T. Dickson, R. Bellringer. T. W. Thomson, E. A. Hopkins, W. K. Lauchland, C. Ay ling, R. P. Harris, W. Bnttan, F. Sinclair, E. Estell, M. E. Price, R. J. Brake, A. A. Hassell. C. Elsom, A. Besley. R. Mathews. K. E. Thompson. H. Dymond, T. Raffle.
