“RODE LIKE MADMEN”
* MOTOR-CYCLISTS FINED AT AUCKLAND (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.). AUCKLAND, July 27. “In my opinion, these two youths were quite desperate, and rode like madmen,” said Inspector Gardiner, of the Transport Department, giving evidence when two motor-cyclists, H, M. Hallam and James Anderson, were prosecuted 'in tne Magistrate’s Court by the Transport Department on charges of failing to stop when requested, and dangerous driving. Both pleaded guilty, Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., fined Anderson £1 and costs 10s for failing to stop, and £1 and costs 10s for dangerous driving, and 10s and costs 10s for having no light. Hallam was fined £1 and 10s costs on each of two charges. The Magistrate cancelled the motorcycle licences of both for six months; but allowed them to retain their licences to drive motor-vans.
