MACKENZIE SUB-UNION MEETS MEDAL FOR MOST IMPROVED FIRST YEAR PLAYER -I 4 ‘ . Mr T. B. Crampton presided at-A faceting of the Mackenzie Rugby Sub* Union, at Fairlie. Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., wrote thanking the sub-union for again electing him patron. He forwarded a goll medal to go to the first year player showing most improved form. It wts decided that each club hand in the name of its most improved player, and that Mr W. McNarry be asked to make the final selection. It was agreed that a small presentation be sent to Mr D. S. Loder, from the sub-union, in appreciation of his services to football in the Mackenzie County. . „ , „ . The South Canterbury Rugby Union wrote confirming the date for the annual game. South Canterbury v. Mackenzie, as August 20. The South Canterbury Rugby Union wrote saying that players who normally were eligible to play in teams under the jurisdiction of the union should not be allowed to take part in sub-union fixtures without the necessary clearance from their home dubs. It was decided that the union be advised that all players in the sub-union competitions had necessary clearances. The Waimate Sub-Union advised that it was not able to send a team to Fair* lie on July 23, as arranged. The game will be played on the earliest available date. Southern, at Albury. August 13: Cave y. Aorangi, at Cave: Fairlie v. Southern, at Fairlie. It was suggested that an effort be made to arrange a representative fixture with the Ashburton Rugby Union. After a telephone conversation with Ashburton it was agreed that if a suitable dale be offered it be accepted. It was decided to arrange for a match, Fairlie primary school . and north schools v. southern schools, as a curtain-raiser to the South Canterbury v. Mackenzie game. Mr C. H. Miller undertook to arrange the northern team. As the senior competition was completed, the result being a draw between Cave and Southern, the play-off was arranged for Saturday at Albury. The game for the Scott Cup will be played at a later date at Cave. The following draw for the knock-out competition for the Ruth Grigg Memorial Cup was arranged:—August' jfc Southern v. Aorangi, at Fairlie; Fairue v. Cave, at Cave. The final game win be played at Fairlie on August 13. Mr G. Everest was appointed manager of the team to play South Canterbury. Mr J. R. Paterson was appointed manager of the team to play Ashburton if the game was arranged. Mr S. A. Cox was appointed referee for 'the South Canterbury game. Mr W.
