W AIMATE BOROUGH COUNCIL LARGE AMOUNT IN FIRST WEEK If the amount collected in the first . week is any indication, the Waimate Borough Council will make a record collection of rates this year. The demands were issued on July 20. and up till yesterday morning .£343 had been collected. The demands last year did - not go out until the middle of August, • and in the first week only £147 was collected. Out of a total demand Ot £7393 the total amount received before the penalty was imposed last year was £6799, a proportion of 91 per cent The Town Clerk (Mr B. S. Runaman) expressed satisfaction with the collection so far this year. The penalty would be imposed on February 3, he said. The Waimate County Council’s d*» mands will be issued on August 15.
