-—— ELECTIONS IN THREE DISTRICTS SITTING MEMBERS ARE RETURNED Sitting members were returned in the elections for members of the Canterbury Education Board. Messrs J. W. Preen and W. A. Banks, the sitting members for the Timaru urban area, were re-elected unopposed, there being no elections in this area. For the Christchurch urban area, Messrs J. J. Hurley and W. T. Langley were re-elected with 107 and 118 votes respectively. The other contestants were Messrs A. C. Maxwell (26) and C. D. W. L. Sheppard (33). The sitting member in the north-west ward, Mr R. Wild, polled 238 votes, and his opponent, Mr C. W. Tyler, polled 199 votes. Mr S. Smith was elected in the south ward with 285 votes. The other nominee, Mr H. Watts, received 190 votes.
