INQUESTS HELD ON MISSING MEN
VICTIMS OF KOPUAWHAKA TRAGEDY (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WAIROA, July 27. Acting on the authority of the Attorney-General (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason), an inquest was held to-day by the Coroner (Mr V. E. Winter) into the deaths of Robert Douglas-Neish, aged 31 jears, and Ivan Martinac, aged 27 years; two of the 21 victims of the Kopnawhara tragedy on the morning of February 19 last, when the No. 4 railway construction camp was washed away. The bodies of the two have never been recovered. After hearing evidence of identification and details of the search carried out, the Coroner said that, from the evidence given, he was quite satisfied . that both men were drowned when the camp was swept away. A diligent search w*as made for the bodies, but without success. There was every reason to believe that the bodies of the two men were either buried in a deep deposit of silt, or washed out.ln .sea. He returned afinding, accoiulngly.
