ACCEPTANCE BY CABINET LARGE NUMBER FOR CHRISTCHURCH FURTHER PURCHASES OF LAND (FBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 27. Mr J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Undersecretary in Charge of Housing, announced to-day that Cabinet had approved of the acceptance of the following tenders for the erection of houses: — Auckland: W. J. Earwaker has secured a contract for four singlehouse units at Mount Albert; G. E. McWhirter, 11 single-house units at Point Chevalier; F. G. Rose and Sons, Ltd., four single-house units at Point Chevalier. Whakatane; Contract for three single-house units to 8.0. N. Construction Company. Christchurch: Paynter and Hamilton, Ltd., hr ve secured a contract for five single-house units at Sydenham; T. E. Marriott, 15 single-house units and four two-house units on the Armstrong Estate, at Linwood; Paynter end Hamilton, Ltd., 10 single-house units at Linwood; Paynter and Hamilton, 15 single-house units at Papanui; J. J. Construction Company, Ltd., three single-house units and one twohouse unit at Papanui; A. W. Hamilton, six single-house units, and one two-house unit at Spreydcn. Timaru: W. A. Petrie, six singlehouse units and two two-house units. Invercargill: R. Richardson, 12 single-house units. Stratford; Contract for one wooden two-house unit and eight wooden single-house units to Boon Bros., Ltd. Palmerston North: H. E. Townshend, Ltd., 11 single-house units and one two-house unit. Eketahunu; P. A. Peterson, four single-house units. Nelson: Chamberlain and Stannard, 12 single-hcuse units. The following purchases of land have also been approved by Cabinet: Auckland; Areas in Buxton road. Kiwi street, Walker road, Huia road, Newell street, Point Chevalier road, Wainui avenue, Sutherland and- Parr roads, Point Chevalier, sufficient for 16 houses; areas in Short street, Sandringham rot-d, Coyle street, and Columbia road. Sandringham, sufficient for eight houses; sections in Carlton avenue, Mays and Mount Smart roads. Onehunga, sufficient for three houses. Christchurch: Area in Bryndwr road and Thornycroft street, Feudal - ton. sufficient for 23 houses. Milton: Area in Spencer street and Main South road, sufficient for three houses.
