LABOURERS’ DISPUTE AT DENNISTON
government consideration WELLINGTON, July 27. The dispute at Denniston over payment for Public Works Department employees on work at the school, is under consideration by the Government, Mr P. M. Butler, secretary of the Labourers’ Federation, said. He had advised the men to resume work. In answer to a question, Mr Butler said that actually there had been no reduction in wages by the Government. The position was that the work concerned had been transferred from the jurisdiction of the county under award conditions to the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department under the conditions of the Public Works agreement.
