TECHNICAL HELP FOR MANUFACTURERS
TWO OFFICERS BY GOVERNBIENT r i [From Our Parliamentary Reporter# WELLINGTON, July 26. The appointment of two technical officers to assist manufacturers in their chemical and engineering problems was announced to-day by the Minister for Industries and .Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan). The officers appointed are Mr F. WSaxton, M.Sc., as industrial chemist, and Mr A. E. Dennis as industrial mechanical engineer. “These officers will be attached to the Department of Industries and Commerce,” the Minister said, “and their particular duties will be to investigate, in conjunction with the department’s economic advisers and cost accountants, the development of new industries and the extension of existing manufacturing and processing industries. Mr Saxton has had a wide range of practical experience with a number of important industries in the Dominion, and Mr Dennis had an equally extensive experience. Both of these officers have recently resigned their engagements with large scale commercial undertakings to join the department, and their services should be of the utmost assistance in developing New Zealand industries along efficient and scientific lines.”
