DAMAGE IN RADIO SHOP

BULLOCK BREAKS AWAY FROM MOB EXCITEMENT IN STREET AT BLENHEIM (THE PRESS Special Service.] BLENHEIM, July 26. A bullock which broke away from a mob being driven to the abattoirs this morning gave citizens some exciting moments and caused damage estimated at £2OO. The mob was being driven over a bridge at the northern end of High street when the bullock broke away and headed straight down the street, causing cyclists and pedestrians hurriedly to make for cover. It finished its charge by turning sharply at right angles and barging through the plate-glass window of a radio and electrical shop owned by Messrs Tomlinson and Gifford. . .. There was a deafening crash as tliu glass scattered in all directions, attracting a large number of sightseers in a few minutes. They were treated to further excitement when the bullock decided to enter the shop. He did this by brushing all obstacles out of the way, including radio sets, lamp shades, and various types of electrical fittings. ~ , The damage included the complete destruction of two big cabinet wireless sets, and some others were knocked over, causing substantial damage to the delicate mechanism inside. Electric irons and heaters also came in for rough treatment. Having made an entry to the shop, the bullock made its way through the main showroom to the workshop at the rear, where a workman speedily made for the rear exit, closely followed by the bullock, which found itself in an enclosed backyard, where it was soon taken charge of by a drover and brought back to the mob. The same bullock was concerned in an incident earlier in tlie morning, whereby it caused further damage, this time to a motor-car. When the mob was approaching the town the animal broke away just as the car, which was going in the opposite direction, came alongside. The bullock attempted to jump the vehicle, and landed across the radiator. The bullock was delivered to the abattoirs.
