MAORI TRIAL GAME NOMINATIONS FROM WEST COAST (THE PRESS Special Service.) GREYMOUTH, July 4. The following players have been nominated by Mr R. Webb (West Coast Maori selector) for inclusion in the trial match at Oamaru on July 9 for selection of the South Island Maori team: — „ Full-back, T. Beard; five-eighths, R. Vincent, H. Tunuru, and- D. Tainui; half-back, H. Tainui; forwards, A. Tainui and J. Parker. ‘ G. Mason has been nominated by the Buller Union for the Maori team to tour Fiji; but will not be available for the trial game.

RUGBY LEAGUE: AUCKLAND CLUB TEAM TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH MEETING OF CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE A team from the Newton Rugby League Club, Auckland, will visit Christchurch and play a Canterbury team on July 23, according to advice received at a meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Rugby League last evening. In accepting the offer the League decided to alter the date of the Northern Union Cup match at Greymouth till July 30. Mr C. Goodman presided. The secretary (Mr H. B. Rogers) reported that letters had been sent to the North Auckland, South Auckland, and Wellington Rugby Leagues stating that as an invitation had been received (rom the Auckland League to send up a representative team during August it had been suggested that the team should leave Christchurch on Friday, August 19, and play against Wellington on the Saturday, leaving for Auckland on the same evening. It was suggested that a match against North Auckland should be played on Wednesday, August 24, and the Auckland match on August 27. In reply to a suggestion from the South Auckland League that a match .should be played on the Sunday after the Auckland match, a request was made for possible information on the gate takings. H. Bamberger and' E. Bamberger (Sydenham) were regraded from senior to junior grade. The disqualification of L. Forbes (Sydenham) was lifted. Saturday’s Games

Addington, at Monica Park, at 1.30 p.m. (Mr B. Vine). Third grade—Riccarton v. Woolston, at Jerrold street, at 1.30 p.m. (Mr C. Waugh); St. Joseph’s v. Rakaia, at Rakaia, at 2.45 p.m. (Mr T. McClelland); Addington v. Linwood. at Woolston <Mr limes).

Line umpires at Monica Park, Messrs G. Underwood and E. Geary. It was reported that if Linwood won on Saturday the senior competition for the Massetti Cup would be closed. If, however. Linwood lost, and Rakaia beat Sydenham, Rakaia. Sydenham, and Addington would all be level.
