MENZEL’S NARROW ESCAPE HARD-FOUGHT GAME WITH CHOY THIRD ROUND ENTERED AT WIMBLEDON (uirmro pksss associatto*—copyright.) (Received June 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 23. R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) had a narrow escape from defeat by the slightly-built Choy in the second round of the men’s singles at the lawn tennis championships at Wimbledon to-day. He was behind 2-4 in the fifth set, but led 6-5. The Czech then crashed through to victory in the final games. Results:— Men’s Singles Second Round R. Menzel beat Choy, 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2, 8-6. Third Round Kho Sin Kie beat Collins, 8-10, 6-2, 8-6, 6-2. Henkel beat Boussus, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. Mako beat Brooks, 6-2, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Hecht beat Sharpe, 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Budge beat Rogers, 6-0, 7-5, 6-1. Puncec beat Anderson, 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, 6-4. Mitic beat Procopio, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0.
