EFFECT OF WEATHER ON HUNTING
DIFFICULTIES IN SOUTH CANTERBURY Because of the effect of wet weather on hunting, members of the South Canterbury Hunt Club at a meeting yesterday agreed that it would probably be impossible to hunt over paddocks for the remainder of the seaS °The Master (Mr C. L. Orbell), who presided, said it would be difficult to arrange a date for the point-to-point meeting, which had been abandoned because of the weather and the state of the ground. He suggested that, the system followed in Southland be given a trial, by arranging a series of flag race meetings instead. . It was agreed to postpone the point-to-point meeting until August 6, to be held on the race course if available. It was decided to use the win and place system at the race meeting on July 23. . ' Mr A. S. Elworthy was appointed to represent the South Canterbury Hunt at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Hunt Association at Wellington.
