UNEMPLOYED IN VANCOUVER

THREE CITIES DIVIDED INTO CAMPS GOVERNMENT WILL NOT CHANGE POLICY VANCOUVER, June 22. The situation in regard to the rebellious unemployed workers is now very tense, with three cities dividing sharply into two camps. Through public subscriptions, 200 unemployed were dispatched to Nanaimo, and 100 to Victoria. The crux of the situation is whether 1700 non-British Columbians will be aided here, or whether they will be compelled to return to their eastern homes. The transients are strongly supported by -thousands of members of the radically-inclined Canadian Commonwealth Party, the Communist Party, and some trade unions, which demand that the Provincial Government resign. Buildings and stores in the capital, Victoria, are heavily guarded, likewise stores in Vancouver and Nanaimo. _ , ~ . The Premier (Mr T. D. Pattullo) firmly declines all the demands of the unemployed. The Federal Labour Minister (Mr N, McLeod Rogers) states that the Government will not change its policy. No relief will be given until the transients remove themselves.
