MALVERN POWER BOARD

RATE SAME AS LAST YEAR REDUCTION NOT POSSIBLE Mr John Deans presided at the last meeting of the Malvern Electric Power Board. Other members present were Messrs H. C. Amyes, G*. Begg, G. Hall, and G. H. Judd. A special order was formally carried to raise the remaining £3OOO of the current £SOOO loan authority, the money to be utilised for line extensions and improvements. Five applications for line extensions were received and authorised for construction* subject to the interested parties signing the necessary guarantees The engineer and secretary (Mr H. H. Barrs) reported that in spite of the very boisterous . weather in the previous fortnight, only three pole failures' had occurred. The line maintenance staff had concentrated on the reconditioning of the Springfield feeder. It was agreed that the rate for the current year be the same as last year, 7-33 din the £l. A reduction would normally have been made again this year, but because of increased costs which the board had to meet in the last 12 months and increased labour costs which the board will have to meet in the coming year, it was found impossible to make the reduction.
