MOTOR-CYCLING

CANTERBURY AUTO-CYCLE CLUB The first of the winter sports excursions will be held this week-end to Porter’s Pass, where conditions should be favourable for ski-ing and tobogganing. A party will leave Victoria square at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and members and their friends who intend making the trip and have no sports equipment, are asked to get in touch with the sports committee. In response to many requests the committee has decided to promote an annual dance, which will be held at an early date. ... , ~ ' The club’s “Safety First” booklet is now available, and members will receive a copy of this, together with the club programme, within the next few days.

Motor-cyclists! Don’t trust to luck! It may be bad.—Combined Clubs’ Safety First Campaign.

PIONEER MOTOR CLUB A most enjoyable social evening and dance were held on Tuesday evening last at the Barrington Park bowling pavilion, and were attended by a large number of members and their friends. The feature of the evening was a programme of films exhibited by Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., who also entertained the gathering with an account of his tour of England at the time of the Coronation. Members accorded Mr Howard a very hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of the function. It is the intention of the club to continue the running of these social evenings throughout the winter months. The annual meeting is fixed for July 19, at the conclusion of which a smoke concert will be held and the prizes for the year presented. CORSAIR MOTOR CLUB The trophies and prizes won during the last half season will be presented at the motor carnival dance in the Railway Hall on June 28.
