CULVERDEN RAILWAY RETURNS
INCREASE IN SHEEP SENT OUTWARDS Because of the late season for fat lambs, there is a marked increase m the monthly returns of the sheep railed from Culverden, shown for the four-weekly period recently completed, compared with the figures for last year. There was a slight falling off in the outward goods, mainly because of the wheat being headed this year and forwarded in February. The remaining figures are on a par with, those of last year. As the Lewis Pass passenger service only went as far as Maruia Springs, a comparison in takings could not be made, ... The following are the figures for this year, showing last year’s m parenthesis:—Outward: Goods. 40 tons (110), sheep, 7935 (4676); cattle, 205 (132): revenue, £438 (£324). Inward: Goods, 565 tons (534); revenue, £564 (£527). Passenger: Outward revenue, £26 (£2O). .
