LANDING GROUND AT REEFTON
MINISTER INSPECTS AREA To inspect a proposed aeroplane landing ground near Reefton, the Hon. F. Jones, Minister for Defence, in company with the county chairman (Mr F. Seawright) and county members, inspected an area at- Fern Flat, some four miles from Reefton, beside the main highway. It was considered that the land would form an ideal landing ground. The county chairman stated that he had inspected the ground with an expert, who had reported that no great expenditure would be required to make the ground fit for use, as it needed very little levelling. The Minister said that the council would have to obtain a title to the ground. The employment fund granted subsidies for the making of landing grounds, but it would be necessary for the council to take the initial steps.
