REPRESENTATIVE GAMES FOR WEST COAST RUGBY LEAGUE FIXTURES A letter sent by the Inangahua League to the New Zealand Council about Canterbury’s challenge for the Northern Cup was discussed at the weekly meeting of the West Coast Rugby League at Greymouth on Tuesday evening. Mr J. Stokes presided. . The Inangahua League, said Mr Stokes, had made the first Challenge for the cup, but the dates of playing challenges was entirely a matter for the New Zealand Council. The dates did not matter to the West Coast League, which, however, had not been informed of the fixing of July 23 as the date of the match with Canterbury. It was decided to approve either July 9 or 16 for a game against Inangahua, and July 23 against Can* terbury. . . ■ Consideration had been given to the standard of play, according to advice received from the New Zealand Council, and the managers of the New Zealand team now in Australia had been instructed to inquire into the possibility of securing competent coaches for New Zealand' centres. Blackball and Runanga had agreed to play a. challenge shield game on Sunday next, and thus the Matist* Ngahere game could be played at Wingham Park, said the secretary (Mr mara-Blackball game for contempt of a ruling by the referee, Was placed on the caution list.
