STAFF DANCE

CHRISTCHURCH GAS COMPANY

Each year, for many years in succession, • with only one short interval, the staff of the Christchurch Gas Company, Ltd., has held an annual dance. This year the function took place last evening at the Mayfair Lounge, and proved as deservedly popular as its predecessors. There was that pleasant air of friendliness about it that marks the truly successful staff dance. Credit for this must go to the committee, which included Misses J. Potter, R. Woodfield, E. Williamson, and O. Greenaway, Messrs H. Dickinson (honorary secretary), A. Cade, G. P. Orchard, and R. McKenzie. Guests of honour were Mr and Mrs F. W. J. Belton and Mr and Mrs F. Gallon.

Mrs Belton, who was presented with a bouquet by members of the staff, wore a frock of floral matalasse in white and briar rose shadings. Her shoulder cape was of rose silk net. Mrs Gallon, who also received a shoulder spray, was in deep wine ponyskin satin, with bands of the material at the neckline. Miss Ruth Woodfield wore a flame coloured slipper satin frock; Miss Joan Potter, floral crepe, with gold metallic thread, and blue and deep beige chiffon sash; Miss Ena Williamson, white cire taffeta, with belt of the same material finished with a gold buckle; Miss Olive Greenaway, cornflower blue slipper satin, finished with tiny ruchings of silk net.
