WOMEN’S TEMPERANCE UNION
LINWOOD BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Linwood branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held m the Baptist Schoolroom, with Mrs Mackie presiding. At the commencement of the meeting members stood as a mark of respect to a late, member, Mrs Campbell, and to Mrs Hunter’s daughter. The consecration hymn was sung and prayers were said for the two bereaved families. The “Y” superintendent reported on the progress of the youth rally lor Sunday, June 12. Mrj .Turner gave a scientific temperance fact. Mrs L. Nuttall, superintendent of the peace and arbitration sub-commit-tee, presided during the latter part of the meeting, when Mr C. R. N. Mackie spoke on “Women’s Influence for World Peace.” Mrs Mackie recited
Whittier’s poem, “Disarmament,” and Mrs G. Bielby gave a humorous sketch. Five books were added to the “peace” library.
