LEESTON MAGISTRATE'S COURT
* (Before Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) In an undefended civil case, J. Staf-, ford v. G; H. Butcher, judgment was given for the plaintiff by default. On a charge of failing to give way to traffic on his right, H. G. Dailey was fined £3 and ordered to pay costs, A. K. Hopa (Mr Lyons) was charged with making a false statement for the purpose of obtaining relief under the Employment Promotion Act. He pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate entered a conviction and ordered defendant to come up for sentence within the next six months, on condition that he refunded £1 15s and paid Court costs within three weeks.
