“VICTORIA REGINA”
FAY COMPTON AT THE THEATRE ROYAL
Miss Fay Compton’s gracious personality has completely captivated audiences in New Zealand, and she has received tumultuous welcomes everywhere. In Laurence Housman’s play, “Victoria Regina,” now showing at the Theatre Royal, Miss Compton gives a superb performance as the beloved Queen of England, whose romance, one of the greatest of love stories, is so sympathetically dealt with by Mr Housman, A matinee of “Victoria Regina” will be given this afternoon, commencing at 2 o’clock, when children will be admitted at special concession rates. The final performance will be played next Friday night.
“GEORGE AND MARGARET”
An ultra-modern comedy, entitled “George and Margaret,” will be presented by Fay Compton and the J. C. Williamson Company at the Theatre Royal, commencing at the matinee next Saturday, when Miss Compton and the members of her company will be seen in entirely different roles to those of “Victoria Reging.” This play, first produced in London more than 12 months ago, has become the greatest comedy triumph in recent years. “George and Margaret” will be presented in Christchurch until Thursday, March 31 ■
