Commercial Bank of Sydney changed hands at £2O 17s j6d. market closing 2s 6d either way. New Zealand Insurance were firm at 60s 7d. market closing 60s 6d buyers, 61s sellers. Goldsbrough. Mort were fractionally firmer at 30s 5d and 30s 6d, and more were offered at the higher price, buyers at 30s 4d. United Building Society were firm with sellers and business at 20s 9d, buyers at 20s Bd. Christchurch Gas declined to 28s 4c and 28s 3d, market closing 28s buyers. 23s 6d sellers. New Zealand Breweries were firmer with dealings at 45s 6d and 45s 3d. and further sellers at the higher price, buyers at 45s sd. Tooth's Brewery moved uo to 56s 6d. Miscellaneous Broken Hill Proprietary showed an easing with dealings at 61s 4d, 61s 2d and 61s Id and more were wanted at the lowest price, sellers at 61s 2d—sellers of the contributing reduced | Iheir limits to 32s Gd, buyers at 325. G. J. Coles were easier at prices rangl ing from 82s 8d to 83s, market closing 82 9d buyers. 82s lOd sellers. An odd parcel of New Zealand Farmers' Co-op-erative "A" prefcrenc changed hands at 325. Taranaki Oilfields were firm with buyers and business at 6s Bd. sellers at 6s 9d. Wilson's Cement were firm at 13s. Woolworths, New Zealand were weaker with sellers at 235, buyers at 225. Woolworths were fractionally weaker with buyers and dealings at 26s 9d. sellers at 28s lOd. Woolworths (South Africa) moved up to 16s 2d and 16s 3d, and these were buyers' and sellers' closing quotations respectively Mining Mount Lyell were a shade easier at 30s 6d and more were wanted at that price, sellers at 30s 7d. Mount Morgans were firmer with buyers at 9s 9d. Buyers of North Broken Hill raised their bids to 49s 9d. sellers at 50s 3d. LATEST QUOTATIONS

There was a good volume of business on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, with the bulk of the dealings in industrials and chain stores. Prices were generally maintained.

SYDNEY Price movements on the Sydney Stock Exchange yesterday were irregular, and no definite trend in values could be gauged from the moderate volume of business. Evidence was not wanting of confidence in many sections of the market, but some seller's were inclined to grant concessions in view of the unsatisfactory condition of the overseas markets.
