HIGH SCHOOL OLD GIRLS' ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT HE-ELECTED Mrs Edwin Hamilton was unanimously re-elected president o£ the Christchurch High School Old Girls' Association at the annual meeting held last evening, and other officers were elected as follows:—Vice-presidents, Mesdames S. C. Owen, George Maginness, and Miss A. Fairbairn; honorary secretary, Miss Ruth Harris; assistant honorary secretary, Mrs N. Bates; committee, Mrs G. M. C. Boyce, Mrs C. Millar, Misses J. Hobbs, A. Cate, and Miss E. Comyns Thomas; dance committee, Mrs N. Bates, Misses E. Thomas, T. Dunlop, J. Hobbs. and M. Mawson.

A vote of thanks was passed to the auditor, Mr C. H. Perkins, and to the retiring secretary, Miss A. Fairbairn. During the evening, songs were sung by Miss Pessy Hollander, accompanied

The Government had purchased land adjacent to the school, so that a sunny part of the plavground may be.used to build the pool without taking away necessary space for playing areas. The drama club had been active during the year, with Miss Pessy Hollander as producer, and the social activities which marked the jubilee year had been numerous and successful. Almost 800 old girls of the school haa attended tne jubilee conversazione held at the Winter Garden. Aft-jr much discu.sion it had been decided that the colours of the association . should be dark blue, light blue, red, and silver in equal proportions.

' Old girls had combined with preI sent girls to arrange an exhibition of cookery, r.ef-dlework, and handcrafts at the school on Parents' Day, and the exhibition bad aroused much interest. 'The final gathering for the year had beer, the annual garden party held at the home of Mrs Edwin Hamilton. Thanks were expressed to Miss P. M. P. Clark for allowing the association the use of the school for meetings &nd for the personal assistance she had given. Mrs Hamilton also thanked Miss Ada Fairbairn (retiring secretary), Archdeacon A. K Warren. Mr S. Mazev, of the Commercial Travellers' Association, Mrs Norton Griffiths, the press, and all who had helped to make the jubilee year successful.

Miss Mary Bryson, daughter of Dr. Elizabeth Bryson, of Wellington, is taking a medical course at St. Andrews University. * She has several New Zealand friends at St. Andrews, including Mrs Somerville, widow of Professor D. M. Y. Somerville, of Wellington, and Mr W. F. Jordan, a former fellow student of Miss Bryson. Mr Jordan is the son of the New Zealand High Commissioner in London, and recently began a course at St. Andrews.
