SEVERE STORM OFF NORWAY

GERMAN CRUISER IN DISTRESS 13 FISHERMEN DROWNED BY TIDAL WAVE (Received March 7, 10 p.m.) OSLO, March 7. The German cruiser Koln, which is travelling north to protect German fisheries, sent a wireless message stating that a terrific gale, sweeping the north-west Norwegian coasts, damaged her engines and some of the crew were lost. The Koln is at present drifting. Lifeboats from the Trondheim, the Norwegian salvage steamer, have started out to the rescue. A Dutch freighter sent a distress signal reporting that half her crew were disabled. The hurricane wreaked havoc m many places along the coast. Tidal waves swept inland, 13 fishermen being drowned.
