Playing in the Temuka Town and Country Tennis Association's B grade competition on Saturday, Pleasant Valley beat St. Peter’s by 10 sets (78 games) to 6 sets (70 games). GERALDINE PERSONAL NOTES At the annual meeting of the Geraldine Women's Institute, the president (Mrs L. S. R. King) referred to the recent deaths of two members. Mrs B. E Best and Miss Amy Williamson. Miss Williamson, she said, had been a member of the institute choir which won the Hodgkin Cup at the interinstitute choir competition two years ago. Motions of sympathy with the relatives were carried in silence. William Mackie, No. 6 Bank street, Timaru, suffered a severe scalp wound. Dr. Gibson attended him and ordered his admission to the Timaru Public Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. GERALDINE STOCK SALE ON WEDNESDAY The Geraldine stock sale on Wednesday will probably be a large one, with an entry of from 6000 to 7000 sheep. The sale will include a number of drafts from back-country runs in the Geraldine County. The entry, which includes about 1500 fat lambs and ewes, will comprise mainly store sheep.
