The Conciliation Council, which has been discussing the application of the New Zealand Federated Shop Assistants'lndustrial Association of Workers for a new Dominion award, concluded to-day with partial agreement. The main questions the council jdecided to refer tp the Court of Arbitration were: Whether the week be 40 hours or 44, whether work be done on Saturdays, and wages, the last hinging in some measure on the number of weekly hours the Arbitration Court decides to award. . , There was a partial agreement on classification. The council agreed on the clauses covering temporary and casual hands and on holidays, except that the decision on whether an annual holiday without pay should be one week or two weeks was left to the Court. Minor matters referred to the Court include the proportion of females in special departments, and payment for dresses.
