EMPIRE CHAMPIONS IN ACTION

BIG MEETING ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Fresh from their triumphs at the Empire Games in Sydney, the Canterbury champions, C. H. Matthews and V. PBoot, will be among the competitor* at the Canterbury amateur athletic championships at Lancaster Park on Friday and Saturday of this week, m addition, a crop of young rising champions will be seen in action in a senes of races which promises to be keenly contested. This is a big year for athletics in Canterbury, and for all centres. Athletes so far have risen to the occasion with brilliant performances. On Friday and Saturday, with all the champions at the peak of their form, it is likely that record times will be approached. The opportunity of seeing Boot and Matthews in action is one that no one interested in amateur athletics can afford to miss. Friday's programme will begin at 5.45 p.m. and Saturday’s at 2.15 p.m.
