MR PARRY'S FAREWELL TO AUSTRALIA

IMPRESSED BY POTENTIALITIES

OF CONTINENT

SYDNEY, February 26,

In a farewell message to the Commonwealth, the New Zealand Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. .E. Parry), who will sail by the Awatea to-day, said that remarkable progress was apparent everywhere in Australia. He was particularly interested in the dairying on the north coast of New South Wales, where there was soil which would delight the eye of a practical farmer in any country. The vastness of the continent and its potentialities had impressed him .beyond measure. He was equally impressed by the size of some of the factories, which showed to what good purpose Australia was developing her secondary industries, providing openings and opportunities for many thousands of craftsmen and apprentices, and building up the national income.

Mr Parry added that he could not speak too highly of the courtesy and hospitality he had received from various Governments. Facilities had been given to him to inspect and inquire into all phases of governmental activities and enterprises in New South Wales and Queensland. The information supplied to him would be most helpful on his return to New Zealand. He had greatly profited also from conferences with the Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons), the State Premiers, members of the Cabinet and departmental officers, which revealed the wonderful kinship of the sister Dominions. '
