SWIMMING
INTER-CLUB CARNIVAL AT TEPID BATHS The Canterbury Swimming Centre will conduct an inter-club swimming carnival at the Tepid Baths this evening. Excellent entries have been received and the programme, comprising handicap events and Canterbury championships, will provide first-class racing. L. Newell, New Zealand representative at the Empire Games, will be competing, together with other leading Canterbury swimmers. FENDALTON CLUB'S ANNUAL CARNIVAL The annual carnival of the Fendalton Swimming Club, which was held on Saturday, attracted a very large attendance. The president. Mr T. J. Thompson, welcomed members of the Leeston Club, who took part in the races. Results:— Schoolboys' 25 yards: G. Moulton 1, P. Walker 2. Schoolgirls' 25 yards: P. Kitson 1, M. Davis 2. Learners' width: D. Mercer 1, P. Small 2. Children's balloon race: B. Syme 1, Wellwood 2. Junior women's 25 yards: E. Kitson 1, N. Stopps 2. Children's dive: A. Cholmondly and E. Symes (equal) 1, P. Wellwood 3. 25 yards open handicap: J. Stocker 1, D. Mercer 2, I. Davies 3. 25 yards junior handicap: D. Campbell 1, J. Lovell Smith 2. 50 yards breaststroke handicap: T. White 1, L. D. White 2, M. Thompson 3. Men's dive: R. Power 1, K. Graham 2, M. Thompson 3. Miss V. Berry gave an exhibition of swimming.
